This building was built as the Tivoli Hotel about 1926. After standing vacant for a long time, the building was recognized by the Mississippi Heritage Trust as one of the 10 Most Endangered Historic Places in Mississippi in 2003. It was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina on 29 August 2005, and was subsequently demolished in May 2006. It was individually listed on the National Register on 18 May 1984, as a component of the "Historic Resources of Biloxi," but it was delisted from the Register on 5 November 2008 after its demolition. It is included in "The Buildings of Biloxi" (1976, p. 66; and 2000/2010, p. 73). It is also pictured in "Biloxi (Images of America)" (2009) (p. 65). |
