Context/Comments Designed by architect Raymond B. Spencer and built in 1929, Mt. Zion Baptist Church is one of the most prominent and intact historic resources associated with Canton's African-American community. It was individually listed on the National Register on 6 April 2000. This building is included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (pp. 230-231, JM8).
