This house is a rare surviving example in Mississippi of a Queen Anne Style house of brick construction. Additionally, it is a regionally rare example of domestic architecture exhibiting an Oriental, or Moorish, influence. The mass and form, the consistent character and fine workmanship of its details, both inside and out, make this unusual house one of the most architecturally significant of the late nineteenth-century houses of Natchez. It was individually listed on the National Register on 25 March 1982. This house is included in "Classic Natchez" (1996) (pp. 154-155) and "Victorian Houses of Mississippi" (2005) (pp. 125-126). |
