The William Ailes House, or "Bellevue," is a Greek Revival dwelling typical of the type of residence constructed by the working middle class of antebellum Natchez. A 1½-story double-pile brick Greek Revival galleried cottage, it has unique dormer windows with glazed, beveled corners. Although altered by conversion to commercial use, the house is extremely important as the only building documented as having been built by Natchez master carpenter Thomas Bowen. This house was listed on the National Register on 12 March 1980. |
