| Comments: | The Historic Downtown District reflects Hattiesburg's evolution from a depot stop to a regional center of Southeast Mississippi. The city's most significant architectual and historical era lasted from the 1890s until 1930. Today, the district retains these historical associations and various building styles representative of the period. Significant architectural styles include Italianate, Classical Revival, Commercial Prairie and Art Deco.
