A New Orleans native, Weil attended Tulane University and later donated his architectural library to the School of Architecture there. ALBERT BENDERNAGEL was an associate with Weil as Emile Weil, Inc. from 1925-1930, and during this time, designed several Saenger Theaters along the Gulf Coast, including the New Orleans Saenger. He also designed the Canal Bank buildings, the Touro Synagogue, Temple Sinai, and the Lakewood Country Club in New Orleans, and at his death, his obituary called him "one of the South's leading architects." Listed in "Directory of Southern Architects" (Dec 1913, p. 45) and in "Directory of American Architects (Apr 1920, p. 47) in Southern Architect and Building News.
