Born in Greenville, MS, graduated from New Mexico Military Institute (1948) and Georgia Tech with a B. Arch. in 1953. His father owned VIRDEN LUMBER COMPANY in Greenville. He worked as a Draftsman-Designer in the office of E.E. NORWOOD and then HALL & NORWOOD (Jan 1956-Sept 1959) and WILLIAM I. ROSAMOND & ASSOCIATES (Sept 1959-1967). Joined with PAUL F. ROBERSON in 1967 to form VIRDEN & ROBERSON. with offices in Columbus, MS; Jackson, MS; and Pine Bluff, Ark. Became member of AIA in 1961, and was president of the MS AIA in 1968. He served as Director of the Gulf States Region of the AIA in 1973. Office listed in 1962 and 1970, at 827 Main Street, Greenville. Many of his drawings are located in the Rosamond Architectural Records Collection at Mississippi State University's Special Collections. See also American Architects Directory, 1970, p. 949.
