Designed by the firm of Shaw & Wobelen, this two-story Georgian Revival building was built in 1939 as a Federal Works Agency project, to serve at the university library. In 1961, the physical plant dept. converted the old library into administrative offices. The stack room was removed and a second floor built in that area; new awning type windows were installed and permanent walls installed to create offices; air conditioning was installed; and floors were tiled. This building is a contributing component of the University of Southern Mississippi Historic District. |
