Context/Comments
Consisting of two stories above a full basement, Carpenter School No. 2 was designed by architect R.H. Hunt of Chattanooga, Tenn., and was built in 1913. It was nationally recognized as a model school at the time. It was one of three public schools that were donated to Natchez by the Carpenter family of "Dunleith."

This building is listed as element #670 in the Natchez-on-Top-of-the-Hill Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 17 September 1979. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 9 May 1985.

It is included in the "Natchez Walking Guide" (1985) (#76, p. 61) and "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.39, ND38).
