The Van Court Townhouse, a free-standing stuccoed three-bay Greek Revival townhouse with an elegant single-bay porch of cast-iron, is one of the most architecturally significant of the downtown residences of Natchez. This significance derives from its high degree of finish and the transitional nature of its design, which features elements of both the Federal and Greek Revival styles. This building was individually listed on the National Register on 9 July 1980, after having been included as element #659 in the Natchez-on-Top-of-the-Hill Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 17 September 1979. It is included in "Historic Architecture in Mississippi" (1973) (pp. 28-29), "Old Homes of Mississippi, Volume I: Natchez and the South" (1977) (p. 69), the "Natchez Walking Guide" (1985) (#66, p. 53), and"The Great Houses of Natchez" (1986) (p. 118).
