This two-story, wood-frame vernacular Greek Revival house was built about 1852. The portico was modified about 1928-30.

The building was listed on the National Register on 22 May 1980 as a component of a thematic group nomination of antebellum houses in Clarke County. The nomination was prepared by Jody Cook, who was at that time an MDAH architectural historian.
