Designed by the architectural firm of Spier & Rohns, of Detroit, Michigan, this Late Victorian Romanesque Revival building was built in 1901 to serve as an educational building and chapel for First Presbyterian Church. This building was included as a part of the listing for the First Presbyterian Church, which was listed on the National Register on 22 December 1978. The chapel itself was later listed as element #404 in the Natchez-on-Top-of-the-Hill Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 17 September 1979. Stratton Chapel is mentioned in ""Natchez Walking Guide" (1985) (p.35) and "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.36, as part of the listing for the First Presbyterian Church, ND31). |
