The house known as "McGregor" is a galleried planter’s cottage that was built about 1835 or 1845 by Peter Van Dorn for his daughter Emily.

It was listed on the National Register on 22 July 1979, as a component of the "Historic Resources of Port Gibson" (Port Gibson Multiple Resource Area (MRA)).

This house is included in "Architecture in Claiborne County, Mississippi" (1974) (p. 77).
