The Claiborne County Courthouse was originally built in 1845 as a rather modest square building with a hipped roof. It was enlarged and remodeled in 1903, at which time the dome, set upon a tall, three-tiered octagonal drum, and the projecting front entrance were added. It was further remodeled in 1951 and 1987.
Mentioned in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.61, in the listing for the Market Street Buildings, ND71). |
