Context/Comments
Built in 1939-40, the former Armory and City Hall was designed by architects N.W. Overstreet and T.H. Johnson, Jr., possibly as a WPA project. About 1940 this building would have served as the armory for Headquarters Battery of the 2nd Battalion of the 114th Field Artillery, if the building was completed and occupied before the unit was called into federal service on 25 November 1940, on the eve of World War II. It served as the Starkville City Hall from 1941 until city offices relocated in 2015. It was renovated to become the Starkville Police Station in 2017.

The building was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 2015.
