Tishomingo State Park was begun in 1935 and opened in 1939. It was the fifth and the most elaborate of ten parks built in Mississippi by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The park retains most of its historic buildings and landscape features and possesses a high degree of integrity. The older part of this park was listed on the National Register in 1998 for local and statewide significance under Criterion A in the areas of entertainment and social history, and under Criterion C in the area of architecture and landscape architecture. The older area of the park was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 19 May 2000.
Tishomingo State Park is included in "Must See Mississippi" (2007) (pp.190-193) and "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (pp.166-167, NE15). |
