| Established in 1864, the Anshe Chesed Cemetery is a Jewish burial ground located on a hilly ten and a half acre site that is now surrounded by the Vicksburg National Military Park. The cemetery contains over 1100 marked graves and at least 46 unmarked graves. The cemetery is the largest and most significant historic property associated with the Jewish heritage of Vicksburg. This cemetery was listed on the National Register on 10 September 2014, from a nomination prepared by Nancy H. Bell of the Vicksburg Foundation for Historic Preservation. |
