A transitional galleried cottage with Federal and Greek Revival elements. It has two doors opening to the gallery, in a six-bay fenestration pattern (w w d d w w), and two front-facing dormer windows. The house is thought to have originally been constructed as a duplex about 1837 by Horace Gridley. In 1854 it was purchased by Judge Josiah Winchester who converted it to a single-family residence. This building was individually listed on the National Register on 31 January 1979, and it was later listed as element #313 in the Natchez-on-Top-of-the-Hill Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 17 September 1979. It received an HPF grant in the late 1970s. |
