Context/Comments
Construction began on "Hollywood" in 1858, for John C. Burrus, who was among the first to settle in Bolivar County, Mississippi, when lands were opened by the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek in 1830. The house is the only extant "mansion type" structure remaining in the county. The building waw restored in 2009-10.

This house was listed on the National Register on 1 April 1975, with 4 acres of land.

It is included in "Southern Splendor: Saving Architectural Treasures of the Old South" (2018) (pp. 84-88) and "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.112, DR22).
