This imposing Richardsonian Romanesque courthouse, built in 1891, is distinctive in Mississippi for its stone construction. Designed by McDonald Brothers of Louisville, Kentucky, it is similar in appearance to the Washington County Courthouse in Salem, Indiana (1888), which was also by McDonald Brothers. The courthouse in Greenville was altered in 1930 and was later enlarged.
Included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.106, DR10). |
