Context/Comments
Built in 1930, this Art Deco commercial building is an important component of the historic commercial area of Vicksburg along Washington Street.

This building was listed as a contributing element (element #60) in the Uptown Vicksburg Historic District Boundary Increase [No. 1], which was added to the National Register on 10 September 2004, and it was more recently included as a previously-listed element (element #125) in the Uptown Vicksburg Amendment and Boundary Increase No. 2, which was added to the National Register on 4 February 2020. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 9 September 2004.

This building is mentioned in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (pp.71-72, in the listing for the Trustmark Bank [First National Bank], YB3).
Brief Description
A three-story, Art Deco commercial building with flat-roof. Main facade faces west and is stucco clad. First-floor storefront appears to be largely intact, and consists of recessed paired doors, both glass in aluminum frame with single transom above. On either side they are flanked by paired display windows angled out to the facade, where there are four additional display windows on either side, all in aluminum frames with bulkheads below. At each of the corners, there are stainless steel pilasters with decorative fluting. Above, the second & third story fenestration is divided into three bays. The central bay consists of one large window with 15-lights arranged in a 5x3 pattern. This display window spans both second & third floors. On either side, there are a pair of modern replacement windows, each window having a paired casement with fixed lights above and below. Each aperture is separated by a fluting. Large spandrels between second and third story windows. Above, there is a cornice with decorative garland,and a parapet above with faux dentils.
