Context/Comments
The former Rosedale Consolidated School, now West Bolivar High School, is a one-story Mission Style school building that was built in 1921. It is historically notable for its connection with a court case, Gong Lum vs. Rice, that was heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1927. That case, during the height of the Segregation era, permitted school districts in Mississippi to categorize Chinese school children as "colored" and bar them from attending White public schools. That court decision had significant consequences for the Chinese population of the Mississippi Delta.

This building was listed on the National Register in 2000 as a contributing element (element #79) of the Rosedale Historic District. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1998.

The West Bolivar High School is included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.113, DR24).
