Designed by Theodore C. Link, the architect of the Mississippi State Capitol, the Blum House is a notable example of very early 20th-century Classical Revival residential architecture. The house was individually listed on the National Register on 30 July 1992 from a nomination prepared by Nancy Bell, Executive Director of the Vicksburg Foundation for Historic Preservation. It was later included as element #7 in the Uptown Vicksburg Historic District, which was added to the National Register on 19 August 1993, and it was more recently included as element #8 in the Uptown Vicksburg Amendment and Boundary Increase No. 2, which was added to the National Register on 4 February 2020. This house is included in "Historic Vicksburg Walking Tour Guide" (1987) (#16, p. 17) and "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.79, in the listing for the First Presbyterian Church, YB20). |
