The Tippah County Courthouse is an eclectic building with Classical and Mediterranean Style elements that was built in 1928. Its most distinctive features are the sculpted figures of World War I soldiers standing atop columns in front of the arched entrance loggias on the east and west façades. It was designated as a Mississippi Landmark in 1996. It is listed as a contributing element (element #1-a) in the Ripley Historic District, which was placed on the National Register in April 2005.
This building is included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p. 160, NE2). |
