Built in 1910 after the previous depot was destroyed by in a major fire, this building represents the importance of the Gulf & Ship Island Railroad to the establishment and development of Wiggins.
Brief Description
One-story, frame, Craftsman Vernacular former railroad depot with a side-gable roof. Entries are 4-panel wood doors with 3-light transoms and wooden sliding bay doors with X-motif. Windows are 6/6 wood double-hung-sash. Distinctive features include wide eaves supported by chamford posts and a raised wainscoted belt course. The building has a pier foundation, clapboard siding, and an asphalt shingle roof.
Historic Information
According to the 1925 Sanborn Fire Insurance map of Wiggins this building was used as the "Freight and Passenger Depot." It was previously located on the east side of the rail road tracks parallel to what is now N 1st Street (previously identified as E. Railroad) and situated across from what is now 143-149 N. 1st Street.

This is the second Wiggins Depot to be constructed; the first was destroyed in the 1910 Wiggins Fire. Designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1999. Moved to present location in 2000. In 2014, the Stone County Economic Development Partnership occupied the former depot.
