Designed by William S. Hull and built in 1902 by the firm of F.B. and W.S. Hull, the Sharkey County Courthouse exhibits the stylistic transition from the Romanesque Revival of the late nineteenth century to the Beaux Arts Classicism introduced into Mississippi by the New Capitol in Jackson, which was under construction at that time. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1989.
This building is included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (pp.99-100, DR2). |
