Context/Comments
Roosevelt State Park was begun in 1935 and was opened in 1940. Named for President Franklin D. Roosevelt, it was the seventh of ten parks built in Mississippi by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. The older area of this park was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 1 November 1995 and was placed on the National Register as the Roosevelt State Park Historic District on 1 Dec 1997.
