Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1940, the Moore Lookout Tower has a distinctive design among the fire lookout towers that were erected for the National Forest Service (and also for the Mississippi Forestry Commission) between in the late 1930s and early 1940s, which were mostly prefabricated towers. The tower was listed on the National Register on 28 October 1999. It is included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p. 226, EM31). |
