Context/Comments
Built in 1858, the Spires Boling House (Bolling-Gatewood House) is a wood-frame double-pile cottage with a with a broad tetrastyle portico sheltering three of the five bays of the façade. The portico has octagonal columns. The building is now the location of the Ida B. Wells Museum and Cultural Center of African American History. It is listed as a contributing element (element #209) in the East Holly Springs Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 20 April 1983 (as a component of the "Historic Resources of Holly Springs"). The building was designated a Mississippi Landmark in 2000.
