“Montrose” is a fine late Greek Revival house of brick construction built in 1858.

It is listed as a contributing element (element #110) in the East Holly Springs Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 20 April 1983 (as a component of the "Historic Resources of Holly Springs"). It was designated a Mississippi Landmark in 1986.

The house is included in "A Guide to Early American Homes – South" (1956) (p. 131), "Shrines to Yesterday" (1968), "Historic Architecture in Mississippi" (1973) (pp. 163-164), and "Old Homes of Mississippi, Volume II: Columbus and the North" (1977) (p. 92); and is mentioned in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p.147, in the listing for the East Holly Springs Residential Neighborhood, NC12).
