Context/Comments
The AMPCO Manufacturing Plant in Rosedale, Mississippi is an intact example of industrial construction dating from the mid-twentieth century that represents areas of local significance in industry and architecture. The property typifies changes taking place in the Mississippi Delta and farming communities throughout Mississippi, as towns took advantage of incentives offered through the state’s Balance Industry with Agriculture program (BAWI). The BAWI began in 1936 under Governor Hugh White as a way to bring industrialization to Mississippi. Almost 350 manufacturing facilities were established in Mississippi under this program by 1960. The period of significance for the AMPCO Manufacturing Plant is from 1954, the date of construction, until 1974, which is when the plan reached its peak of operations and one year before owner Joe Morris died and the plant changed ownership.

It was listed on the National Register on 28 January 2021.
