Brief Description
This X-shaped, single-story hospital is a sprawling facility with an emphasis on the horizontal. It is a modest interpretation of the International Style. The building features a yellow-brick exterior with a smooth concrete water table from the base of the windows to the ground. A concrete band tops the watertable. Windows are 6/6 DH metal sash replacements. Many feature air condition units beneath the window. The flat roof has wide overhanging eaves. The wing that projects to the east features a recessed stuccoed concrete bay with “Shearer-Richardson Memorial Nursing Home” applied to the exterior. A large addition extends to the west and is 1-story with a red brick exterior. A c.1940, T-shaped medical clinic is sited to the northwest of the hospital.
