Context/Comments
This New Formalist bank building was built in 1972 to house the main offices of the Security State Bank of Starkville. That bank was acquired by Deposit Guaranty Bank in 1987. After several bank mergers, the building now houses local offices of Regions Bank.

Historic Information
According historical information on the database of banks on the web site of the FDIC, viewed on 29 September 2021, Security State Bank, of Starkville, was established in 1898. On 15 May 1972, Security State Bank moved its main office to 300 University Drive in Starkville. In 1987 Security State Bank was acquired by and merged into Deposit Guaranty National Bank. In September 1998 Deposit Guaranty became part of First American National Bank. On 31 December 1999 First American became part of AmSouth Bank. In November 2006 AmSouth Bank became part of Regions Bank (headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama). (RC, 2021)
