Designed by architect P.J. Krouse of Meridian and built in 1927, the old Natchez High School (later named Margaret Martin High School) is one of the state's best examples of a public school in the Elizabethan Revival (or Jacobean Style, sometimes called "Jacobethan") which was a favored style for schools in the 1920s. It is comparable to such other notable examples of the style as Central High School in Jackson (1925), the old Starkville High School (1927), and the old West Point High School (1928). After serving for many years as a high school, it became a junior high school. In more recent years it has been used for other purposes.
