Context/Comments
The Mantee Depot was built in 1905 to serve as the passenger and freight depot for the Mobile & Ohio Railroad (later the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio Railroad). The depot is the only structure remaining from earliest years of the town following its the founding in 1904.

It was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 2 March 2012. In 2013, with MDAH grant assistance through the Mississippi Landmark Grant program, this depot was moved a short distance from private property to its original location where it now stands.

Historic Information
Around the time that this depot was built, four trains a day transported passengers and freight to and from the town. A hotel and café served the needs of both the traveling public and railroad workers.
