This Craftsman Style railroad depot was built as a passenger depot for the Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad (Y&MV). The distinctive faux half-timbering in its gables appears at first glance to be a Tudor Revival feature, but closer examination reveals that it is actually more of a Japanese style of half-timbering, a detail which this building shares with the Moran Berbette House at 778 Gillespie Street in Jackson (049-JAC-5296-NRD).
