An eclectic early twentieth century residence, the Southworth House exhibits certain characteristics associated with the Italian Renaissance Style such as a low-pitched, hipped, tile roof; bracketed, wide overhanging eaves; and a deep classical portico with roof balustrade (later removed and stored). Constructed in 1922, the house is one of the most architecturally significant of the Greenwood buildings designed by local-architect Frank R. McGeoy. It was individually listed on the National Register on 4 November 1985 as a component of the Greenwood Multiple Resource Area. |
