This building was a grand Ancient Egyptian style tour-de-force -- three stories, faced in ashlar, with a recessed distyle portico of polychrome Egyptian columns, guarded by a pair of sphinxes. It was built as the meeting place of the Meridian area Masonic Scottish Rite organizations. This building was individually listed on the National Register on 18 December 1979 as a component of the “Historic Resources of Meridian” (Meridian MRA). It was destroyed by a fire on 20 March 1985. It was subsequently delisted from the National Register on 15 May 1987. |
