Designed by Meridian architect P.J. Krouse, with Clarence L. Hutchisson as a consulting architect, the Meridian City Hall (Municipal Building) was begun in 1914 and completed in 1915. This three-story Neoclassical Revival building is one of Meridian’s most prominent architectural landmarks. It was listed on the National Register on 18 December 1979 as one of several historic properties listed at the same time under the heading of the “Historic Resources of Meridian” or the Meridian Multiple Resource Area (MRA). The building was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 6 May 1988. This building is included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p. 217, EM14). |
