Context/Comments
The New Orleans & Northeast Railroad Depot (later the Norfolk Southern Depot) in Laurel built in 1913.

It was listed on the National Register on 31 October 1995. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark on 27 June 1994.

The building is pictured in "Musing through Towns in Mississippi" (1999) (p. 94).

Brief Description
One-story, brick passenger depot with a moderately-pitched hipped roof covered in asphalt shingles. The building features prominent overhanging eaves enhanced by large wooden rackets. The front façade faces west toward the railroad track. It is 14 bays with pairs of double-hung 2/1 windows and a two-leaf glazed entry door with multi-light transom. Adjacent to the north of the door is a cutaway bay projection. The building is relatively unaltered since its listing on NRHP in 1995. The interior was remodeled slightly to accommodate an event space and upgraded bathrooms. The interior retains its original flooring ticket booth, ceiling, and many light fixtures. The interior also features impressive wood-paneled wainscoting.
Historic Information
The building continues to serve as a passenger depot, but also serves as an event space.
