| This 2-story brick commercial building is rectangular with a flat roof and low brick parapet along its façade (southwest). While the building no longer reflects its early-20th century appearance, it continues to convey post-World War II modifications popular nationwide to update and modernize earlier commercial buildings. The use of a metal architectural slip along the upper façade is highly common. As was applying signage to the façade. The upper façade features attached lettering reading “ARTHUR’S.” The use of aluminum in post-War upgrades was incredibly popular to provide a sleek, modern aesthetic. The present storefront features a deeply recessed entryway that angles inward towards the 2-leaf, aluminum-framed door flanked by aluminum-framed sidelights and topped by a transom. The flanking display windows are large plate glass panes, also aluminum framed. A decorative aluminum apron is beneath the display windows. Finally, an aluminum-clad column support is centered at the front of the entryway. |
