Designed by the architectural firm of DeBuys, Churchill and Labouisse, this distinctive house of monolithic concrete construction was built about 1909-10 as the residence of Julia Gardiner Rogers (daughter of George S. Gardiner) and her husband Newell Rogers. The house was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places on 20 April 1987, and it was later included as an element (#162) in the Laurel Central Historic District, which was placed on the National Register on 4 September 1987. The house is included in "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p. 310, in the listing for the North 5th and North 6th Avenues Residential District, PW15). |
