A one-story hip-roofed stucco house with full-width porch supported by square piers.

The house was individually listed on the National Register on 20 April 1987, as a component of the Ocean Springs Multiple Resource Area, from a nomination prepared by MDAH architectural historian Brian Berggren.

It is included in "The Majesty of Eastern Mississippi and the Coast" (2004) (p. 93).
Brief Description
The Hansen-Dickey House is a 1.5-story stuccoed masonry house with a raised basement. Terra cotta tiled hip roof, the slopes of which conceal a cistern. An undercut, U-shaped, wrap-around gallery extends for three bays across the south (main) facade and along two bays of the east and west elevations. The central entrance of the south facade consists of double, glass paneled doors surmounted by a transom. The flanking windows and the majority of those on the other elevations have 1/1 DHS. A secondary porch and entrance are centered on the north elevation, and a basement entrance on the east side of the house is protected by a canopy. The gallery is enclosed by a parapet, the cap of which encircles the house. This continuous molding conforms to the height and profile of the sills of the larger windows. Masonry piers rise from the parapet cap, the entablature continuing around the building. It is dropped slightly below the level of the cornice of the hip roof. The outer face of each simply-capped gallery pier features a more complex dropped molding which rises as an arch to frame a foliated cartouche. The outstanding feature of this house is the main entrance staircase on the south facade. It rises to the main floor between intricately undulating parapets. The stuccoed surface of the parapets is scored to suggest ashlar masonry as are the basement walls. A squat, heavily hipped-roof dormers crowns the facade. The original terra-cotta tile roof has been replaced with a metal roof.
Historic Information
In 1999 it was being operated as a bed-and-breakfast called “Shadowlawn.”

Documentation about the architects in the Southeastern Architectural Archives at Tulane University (http://seaa.tulane.edu/sites/all/themes/Howard_Tilton/docs/finding_aids/Weiss,%20Dreyfous,%20and%20Seiferth%20Office%20Records.pdf ) says of this house "Their Ocean Springs, Mississippi residence called “Bay View” was especially noteworthy, a Craftsman structure with a dramatic curved entrance stair (1905)....Called the Hansen-Dickey House (108 Shearwater Drive), listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987."
