Historic Information
This is the second above of the von Rosambeau family. Gus was a German immigrant who first arrived in New Orleans and worked as a sugar chemist. He relocated to Ocean Springs in the 1870's where he went on to become a prominent merchant. The first von Rosambeau house and store in this location burned in 1917 due to an exploding oil stove. The residence that stands today was constructed in 1917 using material from the old Eliza Ames residence on Sunset Avenue.
