This institution was organized in 1916 as the Lexington Community Hospital, and about that time purchased a frame house (the old Simmons home) which served as the first hospital (see 051-LEX-0300.1-X). In 1930 the facility was transferred to the county and renamed. Shortly thereafter a new brick building was erected, which is part of the present complex. |
