This building housed the transmission facilities for WJDX, which began broadcasting in 1929. It was Mississippi’s second and Jackson’s first radio station. The building's form and detailing were apparently meant to resemble an upright Philco radio of the time. The studios were located in the Lamar Life Building. About 1951, WJDX exchanged frequencies and transmission facilities with WRBC on Lakeland Drive. In the 1970s a studio facility was added to the front of the transmitter building. |
