Built about 1928-29 and occupied by 1930, the Bellevue Court Apartments complex is one of the oldest remaining apartment complexes in the city of Jackson. Along with several other nearby apartment buildings or complexes that were built around the same time, it reflects the rapid growth and urbanization of Jackson in the 1920s and early 1930s and the growing need for housing for young professionals working in the city. It also reflects changes in residential preferences at the time, shifting away from traditional boarding houses and toward private apartments. This complex was listed on the National Register on 21 November 1994. The nomination was prepared by Kelly Griffin. |
