This one-story, wood-frame galleried cottage was built c.1856 for James H. Boyd, mayor of Jackson in 1842-1844, 1850, and 1858. It was acquired in 1960 by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Mississippi, abd is now operated as a house museum. It was individually listed on the National Register on 25 May 1973, and more recently was included as element #65 (previously listed) in the expansion of that district, as “Belhaven Heights Historic District (Revision/Amendment)” which was added to the National Register on 3 September 1998. It was designated a Mississippi Landmark, upon owner request, on 11 September 2002.
