Context/Comments
Designed by architect James T. Canizaro, the Diocesan Chancery Building of the Catholic Diocese of Jackson was built in 1947.

This building was included as element #22 in the Smith Park Architectural District when it was nominated to the National Register in 1976, but its status was not indicated. When the district was amended by the first boundary increase in 1993, its status was determined to be non-contributing, since it was not yet 50 years old. Its status was changed to contributing in the Smith Park district's Boundary Increase No. 3, when it was listed on the National Register on 25 July 2014.

Diocesan Chancery Building is included in "Jackson Landmarks" (1982) (p. 50) and "Buildings of Mississippi" (2020) (p. 246, within the listing for the Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle, JM24).
