Context/Comments
Built in 1904, this Colonial Revival house was the home of Finley B. Hewes, who had become the first mayor of Gulfport when the city was incorporated in 1898. It was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina on 29 August 2005.

The house had been listed on the National Register on 15 August 2002, from a nomination prepared by Michael A. LeBatard. After it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, it was delisted from the National Register on 16 July 2008.

Brief Description
This was a two-story wood-frame Colonial Revival house with a hipped roof. A double-tiered veranda extended across the front façade.
